- The Hooters system is currently comprised of over 435 locations
in 42 states and 24 countries.
- The first Hooters opened in Clearwater, FL on October 4, 1983.
The concept is celebrating the 25th Anniversary this year with a $25,000 giveaway
to customers on the 25th of every month.
- Hooters was recently ranked 43rd in Restaurants and Institutions
magazine for top chain restaurant concepts in America based on 2006 sales.
- Of Hooters 1,500 exempt employees (management from the restaurants
and corporate office), 30%, or 450, are female.
- The Hooters Community Endowment Fund (HOO.C.E.F) is the 9th
largest corporate endowment fund in Georgia and has contributed over $8 million
to local and national charities since its inception in 1992.
- Hooters established a $2 Million research grant with the V
Foundation for Cancer Research in the name of former Hooters Calendar Girl and manager,
Kelly Jo Dowd, who passed away from the disease in 2006.
- Hooters sponsored the Hooters Hula Bowl (college football
All Star game) from 1995-1999 and was actively involved in activities with the Downtown
Athletic Club’s Heisman trophy, the American Football Coaches Association and the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
- Hooters sponsors the Collegiate Golf Match Play Championship.
The 2007 event featured the top 16 women’s teams as determined at the NCAA Championship.
- Hooters is one of four “building” partners for the Georgia
Dome and Georgia World Congress Center having recently renewed its agreement for
another 10 years. The other three are Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines and Miller Brewing
Company.
- Hooters sponsored and hosted the ACC men’s golf championship
at its White Water Country Club course in 1997.
Hooters sponsored and hosted the University of North Carolina and Notre Dame University’s
women soccer teams in an exhibition match that replayed their NCAA National Championship
title game. The game benefited the Lighting Youth Soccer Program of Atlanta.
